For many veterans, traditional medicine does not provide what is needed to live a full and satisfying life. This is a need that a service dog can fill. We at K-9's for Veterans show clients how to train a dog to do what is needed to overcome or minimize their problems. This adds a dimension of confidence to the veteran's life that no amount of medicine can give. Focusing on the dog instead of a disability can give the self-assurance needed to go out in public, rejoining society in a positive way.

K-9s for Veterans is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing disabled veterans and dogs, one team at a time. Mike Halley created K-9s for Veterans in October 2008. Clients are disabled veterans and soldiers in the wounded warrior units of their respective branches of the service. The disabilities can include balance issues, diabetes, seizures, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), PTSD (Post Traumatic Brain Injury) and many more.
